Building Community--Ending Poverty--Obtaining Self-Sufficiency...

THE EIGHT is a 501 (c)(3) Public Benefit Charity. Your Tax-Deductible Donation is appreciated.

In almost 3 short years, our distribution requests have grown tremendously!  With no government funding or monetary grants, it was difficult at times to address the massive requests for help. However, we have helped over 10,000 individuals through practical solutions, basic necessities and life-management tools.  It was an achievement made possible through the financial sacrifices of Founder, Alicia Hollins, her determination, persistence; and help from the Purposed Inspired Network (PINs), consisting of World Vision, Community Action Partnership of Riverside County- Project BLISS, the East Valley Guiding Coalition, family, friends, parents, and teachers. Our combined advocacy for self-sufficiency continues to inspire families, educate community and help eradicate poverty here in the Coachella Valley.

We continue to seek sponsors and partnerships with agencies, who have the heart to effect a positive and long-lasting change in the lives of families, women, youth and those struggling with crisis-situations, while promoting safe, flourishing communities nationwide—starting at home, in the Coachella Valley.

1-2-3 REASONS “WHY” A PLACE OF OUR OWN:

1. TO LAUNCH “A NEW BEGINNING NOW DISTRIBUTION AND WORLD EMPOWERMENT WE-CENTER”.

THE EIGHT need more space to accommodate to growing number of women, youth and at-risk individuals; to expand our services and continue to promote self-sufficiency across the Coachella Valley.

THE EIGHT runs and participates in many activities to promote self-sufficiency of women in need, youth and at-risk individuals. Additionally, we encourage partnerships and develop innovative economic stimuli for our communities. Our activities are increasing as we reach out to more public, employers, schools, corporations and other community organizations.
Our current place has limited space to expand our clothing, hygiene and food distribution program, employment development training, apprenticeship programs, computer training. Life management and financial workshops, small business start-up program, and.  We have several local businesses that are on the waiting list to join the PIN in order to help train our participants.

2. BARRIER FREE ENVIRONMENT & ACCESSIBILITY & STABILITY
Our current administrative operations are located in the Director’s home, located in a gated residential development, thus distribution and walk-in’s from this location is impossible. We are utilizing personal resources to facilitate transportation, and workshop space in support of THE EIGHT programs. Unfortunately, as a very small, grassroots organization, our identity and measurable results are oftentimes over-shadowed by our larger partners.  Owning or leasing our own premises is a long term investment that provides the organization the security and stability to further expand their mission without having to compromise vision. We hope to make our own premises more accessible and also mobile for persons with disabilities and offer distribution, workshops and training on a daily basis to the community.

3. INCOME GENERATING TOWARDS SELF SUPPORT
Currently THE EIGHT is financially supported by the Founder with the assistance volunteers and in-kind donations received through individuals, organizations and corporate donors. With our own premises, THE EIGHT can be creative in generating more income by offering special presentations, offering virtual office space and a thrift shop to support THE EIGHT’s operations and programs.
