Workshop Objectives:

 

  • The Importance of Parental Involvement.
    • Understand how Parent Involvement in prekindergarten and kindergarten is associated with greater achievement.
    • What is Parental Involvement?
    •  
  • Identify the Pathways (child, family and school-related) through which the effects of program participation are manifested, and more generally, through which scholastic and behavioral development proceeds.
    • The Effects of family, school, neighborhood, and child-specific factors and practices on Social Competence broadly defined, especially those can be altered to promote positive development and to prevent problematic outcomes.
    • Describe children patterns of school and social competence over time, including their school achievement, academic progress and expectation for the future.
  • Explore Meaningful Differences in the Everyday Experience of a child
    • Understanding the "hidden rules" of the classes
    • Mental Models of the Poor, Middle Class and Wealthy
  • Defining Resources/ Parental outreach and support. 
    • Community collaboration
