Nearly 10 percent of the population in the United States lives below the poverty line, according to Census Bureau estimates. That's why World Vision works with A New Beginning Now Distribution here in Riverside County and also in 11 major urban and rural areas in the U.S., giving hope to those in need and resources to those who are leading the way in the fight against poverty here at home.Children who lack proper clothing, personal care products, and school supplies often suffer from lowered self-esteem and classroom performance. In turn, these children are at greater risk of adopting dangerous behaviors such as skipping class, dropping out of school, becoming involved in gangs, and engaging in relationships that can lead to early sex, pregnancy, and sexually transmitted diseases. A New Beginning Now Distribution along with World Vision works to prevent these outcomes, providing children with the basics they need--including essential household and school supplies--to reach their God-given potential.

Essentials such as clothing, shoes, personal care items, cleaning supplies and household goods help families facing poverty to meet their daily needs. When families receive these necessities through A New Beginning Now Distribution, parents are better able to budget their limited resources and provide for their children.
1 in 8 Americans, hunger is a reality. Many people believe that the problems associated with hunger are confined to small pockets of society, certain areas of the country, or certain neighborhoods, but the reality is much different. Right now, millions of Americans are struggling with hunger. We all know and are in contact with people affected by hunger, even though we might not be aware of it. These are often hard-working adults, children and seniors who simply cannot make ends meet and are forced to go without food for several meals, or even days. Most of us simply have no idea.

One of the most common misconceptions is the assumption that if someone is hungry, that means they do not have a job and are living on the streets. What most people don't understand is that anyone can experience hunger. It is a silent epidemic that affects more than 36 million Americans.

A New Beginning Now Distribution along with Panera Bread has partnered to provide bread to families in the Coachella Valley with no strings attached.  We are able to reach more in need with the assistance of satellite stations located in low-moderate housing developments, wellness agencies and local churches.

According to the US Census Bureau, in 2008, 19 million people lived in working-poor families. This translates into nearly 9 percent of all American families living below 100 percent of poverty have at least one family member working.
i In fact, 36 percent of client households served by A New Beginning Now Distribution have one or more adults working.
